Daniel Ira Coggin, Jr
   BURLESON — Daniel Coggin, Jr. passed away Sunday October 23,2016.        Services: Graveside Service will be held Wednesday 10:00 am at the Keene Cemetery.        Visitation: 6-8 pm on Tuesday, October 22 at Mayfield Kiser Funeral Home.        Daniel Ira Coggin, Jr. was born November 27, 1919, in Taft, Texas, to Daniel Ira Coggin and Hattie Rosella Thayer Coggin. D.I. was a graduate of La Sierra College and the University of Nebraska School of Dentistry, and served his country in the Navy during World War II and in the Air Force during the Korean War.        In June, 1947, he married Claudia Jo Brown, and the couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. They had two sons, David and Mark. D.I. was a very active member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served for 27 years as chairman of the Board of Elders and was instrumental in building a new church and school in Corpus Christi        D.I. practiced dentistry in Corpus Christi, where he served terms as president of both his local dental society and the National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentists. He had memberships in the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association, International College of Dentists, International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and the Western Society of Periodontology.        He retired after practicing dentistry for 46 years and moved to Burleson where he could be near his children and grandchildren.        Fishing, boating, gardening, and travel with his family were D.I.’s favorite pastimes, but his faith in God, Biblical scholarship, and selfless kindness are what distinguished him among men.        He is survived by Claudia, his wife of 69 years; sons David and Mark, and their wives Cindy and Sabra, all of Burleson; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Andrew, Anthony and wife, Megan, and Adam and wife, Laura; and four great-grandchildren: Ava, Emily, Elijah, and Daniel, and his niece Joan Coggin of Loma Linda, California.

  5. He was our family dentist. So kind to me & my siblings. My heartfelt sympathies to Davis, Mark, Mrs. Coggin & the families. My mother Tensie Hinson left us in March. It is hard to handle the loss of a parent…Prayers for all of you.
