Cremation Costs in Dallas Fort Worth

When someone passes it can be difficult to handle arrangement when grieving. This article tells you what you need about cremation costs in Dallas Fort Worth.

People do not like to think about dying, yet many are preparing for their death in the cremation trend.

The cremation trend keeps growing in numbers each year. The National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA) reports that 50.2 percent of Americans chose cremation last year. The percentage is up from 48.5% the year before.

Cremation choices are usually not made because of religious or spiritual reasons. Cremation choices usually revolve around one very important question.

How much does cremation cost?

We serve the Dallas Fort Worth Metro area and many of our residents have cremation process and cost questions.

We are going to provide you with information to help answer some of those questions.

How is a Body Prepared for Cremation?

The cremation process takes 2-3 hours and has several steps. When going through the steps one by one, it makes the cremation understandable.

  • Identification and authorization documents must be complete. The crematory must have the documentation to proceed to the next step.
  • It is customary to bathe, clean and dress the body. This is usually part of the preparation of the body for cremation.
    • Modern medicine medical devices sometimes result in bodies of the deceased having metal in their body. (i.e. pins, screws, plates, etc.) The metal medical devices are responsibly removed.
    • Embalming is not done for most bodies as they are being prepared for cremation. Upon request, embalming services are provided.
  • The prepared body is placed into a proper container.
    • A proper container for the prepared body can be special caskets designed for the cremation process. Or the proper container can be as simple as a combustible and strong cardboard box.
  • The container and body are then brought to the cremation chamber. A cremation chamber is also sometimes referred to as a ‘retort.’
    • Crematories must meet strict environmental and air quality standards in the cremation process.
    • Fire-resistant bricks make up the lining of our chambers. They are able to withstand 2000-degree temperatures.
  • Once the cremation process is complete, removal of any remaining metal from the body occurs.
    • The removal of any metal remnants remaining can be by hand or strong magnets.
  • The cremated remains have one more process to finish.
    • A special processor grounds the remains into ashes. These ashes represent the final stage of the cremation process.
  • We place the ashes in a plastic bag and give it to the families of the deceased. The ashes within the plastic bag are ready for an urn or container.

What is the Next Step in the Cremation Process?

Before a cremation and sometimes after the cremation families select the urn or container. The urn or container will be of temporary use or permanently sealed.

Many people tell their loved ones if they want the placement of their ashes in a vault.

Some people want to scatter their ashes in the wind. Some want to scatter their ashes in a favorite location.

Some families want to keep the ashes of their family members with them. They want the ashes stored in a permanent urn container.

There is no right or wrong final resting place in cremations. There is only what you wish and desire for your family member.

We speak with families about all these options so they can make the decision which brings them the most peace and comfort.

Since all the urns have separate purposes, it is important to know each comes with different prices.

Urn Cremation Costs in Dallas Fort Worth?

All urns may vary in their temporary or permanent purpose. Some families wish to personalize temporary or permanent urns or containers.

Materials for urns range from glass to gold. Some families wish for their permanent urn to be personalized.

Some want the urns to represent the person’s favorite team, branch they served in the military, religion, artwork, etc.

There are even personalized urns which house two people. If two people decide they want to be together in their final resting place, there is an urn for them.

There are also environmentally friendly and biodegradable urns available. If you want your family member’s ashes to become a part of earth’s habitat, this is a good option.

Finally, there are temporary urns. Even temporary urns can represent your family member and be as personal or as simple as you wish.

Temporary urns are ones which are often used to transport your family member from one location to the other.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has rules and standards all crematories must meet if remains are being transported.
