Brandon Dry
Brandon Leigh Dry, age 48, passed away peacefully at his home in Oak Leaf, Texas on Friday August 28, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his long-time love of 22 years, Kim Mackie. The two shared a beautiful life together and recently wed in a special ceremony in their home. Kim and Brandon met while working together at Auto One and had many wonderful adventures over the years. Two of his beloved “children”, dogs, Max and Georgia, will miss him greatly; but his other loves, Chloe, Missy, and Gabby undoubtedly met him to welcome him home. Brandon was born in San Antonio, Texas on January 14, 1972, to David and Donna Dry of Mesquite, Texas. He is survived by his parents, his grandmother, Evelyn Dry, and brother Shawn and his wife Stacy of Clawson, Michigan, and brother in law Keith Mackie of Waco, Texas. Brandon will be missed by Aunt Debbie and husband Joe LaGrasta, Aunt Gailene Johnston, Aunt Linda Tomicek, his four beautiful nieces Kira and Mattie Dry, and Hayley and Kendal Mackie, many cousins, and countless other friends who were like family to him. To those who knew, loved and were mentored by him, Brandon was a kind, selfless, honest, and compassionate man, a great leader who respected everyone. That said, one of his greatest qualities was that he told you how it was, even if you did not want to hear it! Chalk that up to his strong-willed and stubborn nature, which apparently comes from his father’s side of the family and is what many people loved and respected about him because although he held his ground, he was always respectful. Above all, Brandon would always win you over with his sense of humor, his sarcasm, his wit, and his loud, boisterous laugh that was certainly contagious to anyone who had the privilege of hearing it! And, Oh that smile! Brandon was well-respected in the auto finance industry for over 24 years, which led to his position of Vice President of Dealer Services at Exeter Finance, where he was dedicated and driven to serve his team as a leader, a mentor, and a life-changing friend to many of his co-workers. More than anything, Brandon loved life, adventure, and good times! He loved golf, good music, fast cars, and the world was his playground. If you were counted as one of his many good friends or loved ones, you knew how lucky you were to be in his presence! In lieu of memorial services, Brandon was insistent on a celebration of his life, which his family will be planning in the coming weeks. Details will be forthcoming. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his memory please consider their local animal shelter or the ASPCA.

  8. Kim and Dry Family—-
BDry stood as a great man and character. No matter what he was might be going through he was there to lift others. He will always be in our hearts and live in our memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

  9. I first met Brandon while working at Auto One, SO many years ago! If I remember correctly he was in the collections dept. at the time. He definitely had an amazing presence and personality about him. I haven’t keep touch over the years but I was so heart broken to hear of his passing. My heart goes out to Kim and their family! Rest in peace Brandon!

  10. I’m met Brandon when we went to a couples trip to Mexico in 2008. I’ll never forget his hilarious, fun loving yet man “full of integrity” attitude! One thing is for certain, he loved his woman and his friends. I didn’t get to spend a lot of time with Brandon after that, but the small amount of time I did , I felt like I got to know his heart quickly. Definitely nothing hidden there, just the “here I am take it or leave it” attitude. The world was better for having him, but now heaven and earth benefit. Thank you Brandon for your life on earth, and thank you Kim for being the strong, kind, loving person you are. Until you meet him again….

  11. Kim I am so sorry for your loss. I pray for you and family. He was a one of kind for sure. He will be dearly missed but always remembered as wonderful person.

  12. My sincerest condolences to the Dry family. Brandon was a great man, a true leader. He was the very best of us all. I will miss you Brandon. But we will speak again and have much to talk about. But for now, you’re in heaven dancing with angels, 😇 or showing them how to build a Hot Rod. 👍

  13. I got the honor of meeting Brandon while he was with Santander. I truly miss our lunches. May God bring peace for his loved ones at this time of great loss and sorrow.

  14. To: Kim and the Dry Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. I will definitely miss Brandon. Brandon was a beautiful person inside and out. He was the first VP that I have ever had that was very personable and knew everyone’s name and would come around every morning and speak and give us high five. I’m going to miss that. I say to the family remember the good times with him. I will be continuing to pray for you all.

  15. What a wonderful guy. I met Brandon when my husband and I moved to Texas from Virginia to live near our son Ken. One call from Ken and Brandon was there to help us move our furniture into storage until our house was finished. I loved his sarcastic sense of humor and his goodness. He was always there if you needed him. I’m so happy I got to meet and know him. He will be so missed. Love you Brandon. Sending prayers to Kim and their families.

  16. Brandon was an amazing man and friend. Always good for a smile and a laugh. I’ve missed him for a while, but didn’t realize how much.

  17. I will never forget Brandon. We met through Christian Endeavor in the 1980s. I always looked forward to seeing him at retreats and conventions. Such a sweet soul. Lots of great memories. I was so happy we were able to reconnect on Facebook. My love goes out to Kim, his parents, and brother, Shawn. He will be missed so much by so many.

  18. To the Dry Family,
I extend my deepest sympathies to you all. May the soul of Brandon be at peace with our Heavenly Father.
Brandon was one of my leaders years ago and was my daughter’s up until his transition.

Thank you Brandon for your leadership and kind heart . You will truly be miss .

  19. Brandon was one of the 1st people I met when I went to work for Santander. He was immediately welcoming, mentoring, and above all else, friendly. I enjoyed working with him and it’s hard to imagine a world in which he doesn’t exist, because he was truly one of the good ones. Knowing how impactful he was to friends, coworkers, and acquaintances (if you could stay that after 5 minutes!), I can only imagine the loss felt by his family. Prayers to you all.

  20. Seems like just yesterday that I built Brandon and Kim’s new home. It was a pleasure building their dream home…one of the nicest couples I have ever worked with! Kim, so sorry for your loss….just holler if you need anything…home or Camaro.

  21. I only had the pleasure of knowing Brandon a very short time but was greatly impacted by his kindness and positive attitude even on his tough days. Kim and Brandon’s love for each other and love for life were apparent from day one. Heaven gained a spit-fire.
Kim, my deepest sympathies to you, your fur babies, your family, and loved ones. May your hearts be comforted that Brandon is now pain free and smiling down on you all.

  22. Donna,Dave, and Evelyn,
I’m so glad we talked yesterday. It is important that you knew how much we cared for Brandon and you guys too. We grieve with you. We love you all. Please give our condolences to Kim also.
    Hope to see you soon.
    Denny and all the family.

  23. Kim and family,
I am truly sorry for your loss. I met Brandon at Santander when I worked with Jennifer Bonner. We always looked forward to Brandon stopping by to talk business or just to chat. I’ve been in business for over 40 years and have NEVER met a leader like Brandon. He could strategize with executives then talk to us as if we were equally as worthy and important. He is greatly admired and will be sorely missed.

    God bless you all!

  24. I am so sad to hear of his passing, I say prayers for the family as I know he was a large part of you family as he was always a large part of anything he was a part of. He was a true leader and very helpful and would mentor anyone that would listen and put forth the effort, I had the pleasure of working with him at a few companies but he was the best.

  25. Brandon changed my life for the better when he hired me at Santander back in 2012. He never walked in a room without letting you know he was there… I am going to miss that. thank you for the opportunities you forever paved for me! RIP bdry
