Alyce Virginia Schlech
BURLESON — Alyce V. Schlech, 101, passed away Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday at Mayfield Kiser. Viewing: 9 a.m. Thursday. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, Alyce’s family would like donations made to the Texas Patriots Tea Party, Box 561, Burleson, Texas 76097. Alyce Virginia Schlech was Born in Washington Township of Warren County, New Jersey on July 1, 1911 to Andrew Duncan Perrine and Alice Rebecca Simonson Perrine. Alyce lived on a farm in Cranbury, New Jersey and went to Cranbury Elementary School through 5th grade. She and her family moved to Bayonne, New Jersey in 1922 and she graduated from Bayonne High School in 1929. She was raised a Presbyterian and sang in the local church in Cranbury and Bayonne, New Jersey. She married Howard Arthur Schlech at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church, Jersey City, New Jersey on September 19, 1936. They lived in Bayonne until 1951 and then moved to Teaneck, New Jersey where they lived until 1961. Howard worked for Texaco and was transferred to Houston and retired in 1978 after 40 years of service. They then moved to Pompano Beach, Florida. Alyce and Howard were married 57 years. Howard died Dec 13, 1993 in Pompano Beach. Alyce’s son moved her to Covenant Place in Burleson, Texas in 2003. She has always been a conservative Republican and has voted in every Presidential Election since FDR in 1932. Her biggest concern when she moved here to Burleson in 2003 was to register to vote in Texas again. At age 99, she was a deputy voter registrar for Tarrant County and registered potential voters at the Covenant Place. She is a big supporter of the tea parties and contributed to her son’s tea party, Texas Patriots Tea Party and the national Tea Party Patriots. Both groups recognized her on her 100th birthday with beautiful bouquets of flowers. Survivors: She is survived by: daughter, Bette Jean Schlech Eifert who lives in Alpine, NJ and son, Dr. Barry A. Schlech who lives in Burleson, TX.; sister, Mary Phillips of Leesburg, Fl.; 9 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
