James Edward Cain III
James E. Cain III, 77, passed away on February 24, 2025, at Medical City Hospital in Arlington, TX, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on October 8, 1947, in Fort Worth, TX, to James E. Cain Jr. and Dorothy Jean Cain. He graduated from Kennedale High School in 1965. He proudly served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps and was a Vietnam War veteran, where he was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. James is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage; daughters, Candace Nelson, Keely Bonner and husband Mike; grandchildren, Makenzie Gandara and husband Jeff, Brittany Bonner, Maisie Nelson, Brandace Nelson, Milee Bonner, Garrett Bonner and wife Jessica; great-granddaughter Olivia “Livy” Bonner; sisters, Susan Maynard and Sandra May, and many loving relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his father James Cain Jr. and younger brother Bill Cain. Jim’s greatest joy was being a husband and Papa. He loved spending time with his family and going hunting and fishing at the ranch. He also loved going camping, bird watching, and indulging in his favorite snacks: popcorn and ice cream. His military service will be Monday, April 7th, 2025, at 11:15 A.M. at DFW National Cemetery. 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. All who knew and loved him are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to K9sforwarriors.org in memory of Jim Cain.
