Shelley Miller, lovingly known by many as Shelley Belly or Shelley Rae, passed away on February 5, 2025. Born on April 29, 1970, in Buffalo, Wyoming, Shelley was a beacon of love and light, exuding a unique blend of compassion and wit that touched the lives of many. Mark Twain once said, “The finest clothing made is a person’s own skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.” Shelley wore her heart on her sleeve, and her empathetic nature was her finest attire. Shelley’s journey took her from ranch lands of Wyoming to the desert plains of New Mexico, and finally to the heartland of Texas, where she dedicated over two decades of her life to the children of Venus ISD. As a vital part of the Child Nutrition and Transportation Departments, her caring nature shone through in every interaction. She was the embodiment of love and nurturing, always putting others before herself. But Shelley’s love wasn’t confined to her work alone. She was a loving mother to her daughters, Hannah and Bailey, a beloved sister to Warrie, and a cherished aunt to Ivy. Her family was her world, and she was theirs. Outside of work, Shelley was a cowgirl at heart, a lover of good food, concerts, and games. She found joy in coloring, reading, and spending time with her fur babies. Her witty comebacks were legendary, making her the life of every gathering. In the words of Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Shelley’s love, wit, and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Shelley was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Linda Dickinson, and her husband, Jason Miller. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 pm CST at the Midlothian Funeral Home, located at 200 East Avenue East, Midlothian, Texas, 76065.
