The family of Edith Josephine (Stewart) Holtsman wishes to announce the passing of their beloved member, “Jo” as she was affectionately known, on January 22, 2025 at the age of 78. She was born September 1946 in Fort Worth, Texas. Jo is survived by her husband of 59 years, William L. Holtsman, two daughters Kelley Holtsman and Dana (Todd) Fowler; grandsons Luke and Ian; and her brother, Lindsey Stewart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Iris Lee and Hiram Abiff Stewart. She grew up in Fort Worth, with frequent visits to her grandparents farm in Brady, Texas. She was a 1964 graduate of Arlington Heights High School and attended the University of North Texas. On August 14, 1965 she married William L. Holtsman, and soon they moved to New York for her husband’s career. When her two daughters were in school, Jo returned to her education at the State University of New York, Binghamton, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science. Jo started her career at General Electric Corporation developing engine control software and was promoted in a few years to a software manager. When her husband’s company relocated them back to Texas, she was able to further her career, and spend many years close to her Mom. She accepted a new position with Lockheed Martin in Fort Worth as a software manager for the F-35 program, she took great pride in her work and loved watching flights of the F-35. She retired from Lockheed Martin in 2011, and spent months traveling every year with her husband in their RV to various destinations, including many trips and long visits with her grandsons in CO. Jo’s life was marked by her warmth and generosity, traits that endeared her to many. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, the consummate professional and life-long friend.
