Naomi Lessner Coleman
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Naomi Lessner Coleman. Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and cherished friend was called to heaven on Tuesday, the 28th of January, 2025 at the age of 89 leaving a legacy of love, strength and generosity. Naomi was born in Houston, Texas on October 30, 1935 to the late Joseph Adam Lessner and Esther Lowe Lessner. She spent her entire childhood in Houston where she graduated from Reagan High School. She often spoke of her treasured memories there, spending time visiting with her grandfather for hours on his porch swing. Naomi is lovingly remembered by her children, JoLynn Welkner (Gary), Julie Rouse (Rick) and Jeff Coleman (Barbara). She will forever be cherished by her grandchildren, Nick Sadler (Caitlin), Stephanie Crates (David), Regan Jackson (Gary), Ryan Rouse, Joe Coleman, and Brook Richardson (Carey) and her six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister, Gloria Taylor and two nieces, Jill Costa and Pam Mills. After committing her early adult life to raising her three children, Naomi attended Texas State Technical College where she earned an associates degree in computer science. She was then offered a position with the City of Arlington where she worked for many years. After retiring Naomi was able to spend much of her spare time pursuing her love of gardening, enjoying time outdoors working in her yard. Naomi was blessed with many talents. She was an incredible seamstress, enjoyed photography, painting and working with stained glass. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends, line dancing, volunteering at her church and spending time with her beloved cats. One of her greatest passions was her firm support of the Tea Party and her strong beliefs in the political arena. She spent hours supporting the causes she believed in, while also working long hours at the polls during elections. She left us her strong beliefs in God, family, hard work and laughter. She will be remembered as an intelligent, strong woman, loving mother and loyal friend who left an indelible imprint on the hearts of those she touched. We rejoice that she will find warmth in the Lord’s embrace and will forever rest in peace. A celebration of life to honor Naomi’s life and legacy is being planned for a later date.
