Orson Keith Lane, lovingly known as,”Uddy” passed away on January 2, 2025, at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Born on January 18, 1958, in Paris, Texas, Orson was the youngest of fourteen children born to James and Bessie Lane. He departed this life at age 66, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He departed with family at his bedside. Orson loved to tease his sister, Vesta, stating that her nose and lips weren’t like the other family members. He and his brother Kenneth, nicknamed Sappo, were like two peas in a pod. As young children, they had an imaginary friend they played with and named, Beloney. When I last spoke with him Orson said, “I love all my siblings.” Our brother Kenneth, nicknamed (Sappo) was very dear to his heart. His older brother Robert always looked out for him and Kenneth. Our parents taught us to take care of one another. A part of Kenneth left with him. His baby sister Sheila provided him with many hours of comfort before passing last month. Thank to Robert and Kenneth for taking care of our baby brother. Thanks to Audrey, Jacquelyn, Beverly, and Janice thank you for the countless hours of love and support you provided to Orson. “He said we all owed him since he was the baby.” ‘Lil’ Larry Solomon was his classmate and friend to the end. Orson was a compassionate family man who spread joy and laughter wherever he went. Special thanks to nephew T C Hampton III, (Chady) for providing transportation to and from Dallas for his Mom Orson sisters. Orson was preceded in death by his parents, James and Bessie Preston Lane; and brothers Harold Lane, David Lane, sisters: Joyce Wallace, Velena Thomas, Sandra Cooper, and Sheila Thomas. He is survived by his daughter: Demetrice Young-Brooks (Keith), grandchildren, Kadence, Trinitee, and Zenda. Sisters: Audrey Lakes, Jacquelyn Mason, Beverly Lane, Janice Wortham (Wayne), Vesta Lane. Brothers: Robert Lane (Ruby), Kenneth Lane (Diane), Brother in Law L V Wallace, Sister-in Law Zo Lenar Lane, and a host of nieces and nephews, and extended family and friends who will forever hold his memory dear. A Memorial will be held on January 31, 12:00 pm. at Heritage Hall, 971 W. Kaufman St., Paris Texas. Donations in Orson’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.fightcancer.org
