Shirley Marie Dieb Hoffman Paschall
In Loving Memory of Shirley Dieb Hoffman Paschall (1937-2024) Shirley Dieb Hoffman Paschall passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1937, Shirley grew up in Alvord, Texas, where she graduated from high school before attending North Texas State College (UNT), earning a BA in English. Her love of learning and passion for teaching led her to a long and successful career in education. For over 20 years, Shirley dedicated herself to teaching English, speech, reading, and drama in Mansfield and Kennedale schools. Her dedication to her students earned her special recognition for numerous outstanding student performances. After her teaching career, she worked as a secretary for LTV in Grand Prairie, Texas, where she was highly regarded for her professionalism and attention to detail. An avid reader and lover of theatre and travel, Shirley enriched the lives of those around her with her creativity and adventurous spirit. She was a talented musician who found joy in playing the piano and cherished time spent entertaining her children and grandchildren, especially during the holidays. A devoted Christian, Shirley served as a lay leader in the Unity of Arlington church and was known for her nurturing heart and unwavering devotion to her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edna (Musey) Dieb and Jemel “Jim” Dieb; her daughter-in-law, Becky Hoffman; her first husband, Gordon Hoffman; and her brother, James “Jimmy” Dieb. Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Larry Paschall, and her children: Mark Hoffman (Christy), Barry  Hoffman (Kim), and Teresa Stegall (Forrest). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Stephen Hoffman, Elizabeth and Brandon Hoffman, and Hayden and Alexa Stegall. The family would like to extend special thanks to Visiting Angels who cared for Shirley, especially Karen, for their kindness and support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in Shirley’s memory. Shirley’s love, warmth, and dedication will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed.
