Austin Ray Dunlap, 60 of Fort Worth, Texas passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024. Preceded in death most recently by his mother, Lois E. Dunlap and father Ramon “Ray” K. Dunlap of Hurst. Austin was born and raised in Dallas, leading a life full of travels and adventures. Growing up, he enjoyed racing cars, attending the annual Texas Jam and going shooting down in Hico and Iredell, Texas with his father, brother and uncles. Austin travelled all over the states by trains, big rigs and cars. He enjoyed living out in California for several years and then moving down to Corpus Christi, where there was a beach, he was happy. For many years he lived in the Ozark mountains before making his way back to Texas. Austin made friends wherever he went. He worked for many years on the big rigs and tractor trailers and loved anything automotive, the classic muscle cars and his rock and roll. He was a big guy with a huge heart, protective of his family, especially his mother and sister. He enjoyed his time while residing with his sister and her family, watching football with Mark, cooking dinners for all of us, playing with the kids and reminiscing about all of us growing up in Oak Cliff; memories were made that we’ll cherish for the rest of our lives. He enjoyed being and was a great uncle to Parker and Ashley. He was our beautiful wandering soul. Austin is survived by his brother Jack Dunlap (Tracie) of Texas, his sister, Susan Dunlap Irvin (Mark Garvin) of Hurst, nephew Parker Irvin of Hurst and niece Ashley Irvin (Angel Martinez) of Hurst. The family would like to thank everyone at The Better Place in Ft. Worth for loving Austin and taking care of him during his recent health decline. Austin was tough on the outside but soft on the inside and I’m going to miss his big bear hugs, but we take comfort in knowing he’s back with mom and dad where he missed being for so many years. Fly high brother, give mom and dad extra hugs from us, we’ll all be together again one day.
