James L. Jahn departed a well-lived life on September 5, 2024, in Cedar Hill, Texas surrounded by family at the home of his Daughter, Michelle and Husband, Cory. Per Jim’s wishes, formal services were withheld and cremation followed. Born to Edward and Florence (Petersen) Jahn on May 7th, 1937 in Woodbury County, Iowa, Jim was a lifelong resident of Anthon, Iowa and well-known in the Anthon and surrounding area. He enjoyed bowling, raccoon and deer hunting and trapping with his son, nephew, and friends; horse and dog racing, attending tractor pulls, watching rodeos, and raising quarter horses – Appaloosa’s held a special place in his heart. Jim was fan of all things Dallas Cowboys, Ford Trucks, Saltwater Taffy, Twin Bings, and Black Licorice. Most of his working life Jim was a heavy equipment operator (both Scraper and Dozer) for several local contractors. Whether you knew him as Jimmy, High Pockets, or by his CB handle Twin Engine, you knew he was a friend and dedicated employee. Jim and Marilyn Hayworth were married June 16, 1968 in Anthon, Iowa. Although they were divorced, they remained friends throughout the years. Jim and Marilyn had 2 Daughters, Amy Johnson and Michelle (Moran) Dennis; and Son, Richard Hayworth. Jim is survived by his children, Amy Johnson of Decatur, Alabama; Michelle (Cory) Dennis of Cedar Hill, Texas; and Richard (Darla) Hayworth of Boone, Iowa; 11 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Harold Jahn of Sioux City and Kenneth “Dutch” (JoAnn) Jahn of Moville; Brother-in-laws Kenneth Fredricksen and Ralph Freese; several neices and nephews; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Sisters, Beverly Fredricksen and Barbara Freese; and nephew, Randall Jahn.
