Jean Elizabeth Harris (nee Tripp) passed away peacefully, comforted by family, on August 18, 2024 in Grapevine, TX. She was born the daughter of Charles Frederick Tripp II and Elva Alberta Fuller Tripp on June 27, 1938 in Canton, ME. Jean’s early years were spent on the family farm in Canton Point. She spent her high school years in Farmington, ME where she lived with her brother Fred and his wife, Margaret. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1955 and attended Westbrook Junior College. Jean married A. Clifton Harris in 1958 with whom she had five children who were raised in the Wilton, Millinocket and Augusta areas. A devoted mother, she exemplified a resilient and selfless spirit. Her tenacity, ability to smile and maintain a sense of humor in good times and bad are a legacy she passed on to her children, grandchildren and those close to her. After many years spent raising her children, Jean pursued the professional skills required to care for her family and enjoyed a long career working for the State of Maine while she lived in Augusta. In retirement, she moved to Industry, ME with her son Steve, and later to live with her daughter, Diane, in Grapevine, TX. These years afforded the opportunity to travel, visiting children and grandchildren in Texas, Maine, South Carolina and elsewhere. Jean is predeceased by her parents, brothers Erlon, John, Charles (Fred), Paul, Herbert, Marland, Gordon, and Byron, as well as her son, Scott, and daughter, Donna. She is survived by her children Steven Harris, Diane Bibb (Garry) and Shawn Harris (Maria), as well as grandchildren Lauren, Nicholas, Candace, Elizabeth, Nathan, Ryan, Tamarah, Jacob, Amanda, Austin, Sophia and Genevieve and many great-grandchildren. Aunt Jean’s big smile and quick wittiness is how I will always remember her. So very sorry for your loss and may you find peace in all your memories.
Diane, Steve and Shawn, I just read about your mom passing. I’m am so sorry to hear that. She was such a wonderful woman, she helped me tremendously. I remember her red flannel hash, along with her other dishes but that was my favorite. She and you are in in my prayers and thoughts Sincerely Carla Oakes Carter

Dear Aunt Jeanie, You & Mama (Gracie) were cohorts, coconspirators, & charter members of the Harris Survivors Club. Between your 5 & Mama’s 2 Harris children, you both had to develop quirky senses of humor in self defense! (especially to deal with the boys!) Even as a very young girl, I remember being awed by your management skills! You’ve earned your well deserved rest, & set the bar pretty high for the rest of us to live up to. Enjoy that peace while you wait for us to join you, as you are finally with your large family, Gram, your rascal, Scott, Sweet Donna & Tommy, & of course, Gracie. Until then, please know that the hole in my heart is a little bigger. I will love & miss you always, till we are together again! Bunches of Love, your long winded niece, Sammie Angel
