Anita May Loughry
October 5, 1957 – July 28, 2024 Anita May Loughry, aged 66, passed away to her new, pain-free life on July 28, 2024. Born on October 5, 1957, Anita was the sweetest woman many had the pleasure of knowing. Her life was dedicated to bringing joy and happiness to her family, always putting their needs above her own. From a young age, Anita selflessly helped raise her four younger siblings, demonstrating her nurturing nature and boundless love for children and animals. Her love extended to all forms of creativity—she was an avid reader, a movie enthusiast, and had a deep appreciation for music and art. Anita’s creative talents were boundless; she could sew clothes, crochet anything from a potholder to ponchos to afghans, do needlepoint, and put anything onto a canvas and make it come alive. She also made beautiful jewelry. There was nothing she couldn’t do when it came to arts and crafts. Anita worked many years at Mepco in Mineral Wells until its closure, then continued her career at S-Tec, and finally at Walmart, where she retired after over 20 years of dedicated service. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Peggy Loughry, her brother Roy Loughry, and her sister Karen Lancaster. She is survived by her brother Charles Loughry; sister and brother-in-law Sharon Vargas and Billy Williams; sister and brother-in-law Rebecca Jackson and Rick Bates; nephews Ryan Blaylock, Diego Vargas, Christian and Chorban Ramos, and Jacob and Christopher Bates; nieces Donna Vargas, Chantel Ramos, MeKayla Lancaster, and Maia and Lily Bates; great niece Bella Lindsey; great nephews Klaus and Koa Nelson; aunt Wilma Mitchell; and numerous cousins. Anita’s kindness, creativity, and dedication to her family will be dearly missed. Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
