Weatherford, TX – Joan Tanner went to join her husband in heaven after a courageous battle with cancer, on May 14, 2024 in Weatherford. She was born on May 29, 1938 in Seneca, MO. Predeceased by her husband, Charles in 2021; Joan is survived by two sons, Todd (Rachel) and Ty (Khristina); her grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Erin, and Jake. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends. Joan had a memorable young adult life as she and Charles lived in several states and chose to settle down in the great State of Texas. She held multiple professions and later discovered her passion was jewelry. She was the founder/owner of Tanco Creations Jewelry and built her successful business from very humble beginnings. Joan and Charles were active in their church as well as regularly serving the Navajo Missions in New Mexico. Her greatest pleasure was received when hosting her annual Easter celebrations with her family and friends. A celebration of Joan’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Azle, TX on Monday, June 24th at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to the Parker County Committee on Aging – Meals on Wheels program or First Baptist Church Azle in her honor.

We had the pleasure of being in the Senior Adult Sunday School class, at First Baptist Church in Azle, for many years with Joan and Charles. She was soft-spoken, kind and hard-working. She was also a savvy Chicken Foot player. We will miss her smile. Condolences to her family.
Joan was the sweetest lady that I know I have a lot of memories always served and Navajo Indian reservations in New Mexico. She loved your family and her friends and she was dearly loved by me. I will miss her very very much.

Jo-Ann will be missed. She was a wonderful person.
My sweet friend has left us all but what a rejoicing in heaven there must have been when Charles saw his wife !
I attended many many years in Sunday school class with Joan and Charles and ther both were very special people, servants of God , where she got her energy , I’ll never know !
I moved away from my Church 3 yrs ago so I’ll not be able to attend her memorial service!
You are so missed by me just knowing your no longer on this earth !
We were made to feel like family from the first time we were invited to Easter dinner. Since our families were out of state it was such a blessing to be counted as family with the Tanners. Joan will always be a role model of what a strong woman with a servant’s heart looks like. So grateful to have known and loved her.
We will miss Joan so much . She was our dear and special friend for over 20 years. Always the best host ever. Loved being around her and Charles . Special in so many ways . A friend , sister in Christ ,
We enjoyed each others company and fellowship . And know she is enjoying the beauty of heaven right now . One day oh one day we will see her again 🙌
