Jeffrey (Jeff) Michael Kindig
Jeffrey (Jeff) Michael Kindig, age 60, passed away at home with his wife Lynn and son Jordan by his side. Born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Jeff was the son of Judith Ann Kindig and Robert Earl Kindig, (Cedar Rapids, IA). He graduated from Linn Mar High School and then attended the University of Iowa, earning a bachelor’s degree in business, with an emphasis in marketing. He served as editor of the University of Iowa yearbook, which led to a position as a yearbook sales representative with Taylor Publishing Company, Dallas, Texas. He soon accepted a position in Dallas as Art Director, Marketing for Taylor, where he met Lynn in 1989. They were friends for a few months, then began dating and attended a Georgia O’Keefe art exhibition at the Dallas Museum of Art, where they would spend many years volunteering. Jeff and Lynn married in 1997. Their son Jordan completed their family in 1998. Jeff had a fulfilling career in graphic arts and marketing. After leaving publishing, he held positions as an instructor of graphic arts at the Dallas Art Institute, followed by a 21-year career with AMX Corporation and Harman International Industries, serving as VP of Marketing Strategy and Director of Global Marketing and Market Strategy, respectively, both of which provided the opportunity to travel the world. Jeff most recently worked as Chief Marketing Officer for Lone Star Communications, which develops integrated systems primarily for the healthcare industry. Jeff served as a consultant, board member and board chair of the NSCA Education Foundation, which provides scholarships and awards to assist professionals within the communications technology industry. He created and developed the NSCA IGNITE program, which provides a pathway to those seeking careers in the industry. Lynn, Jordan and Jeff enjoyed the arts, films and traveling. Jeff developed a love for baseball from attending games with his father, and carried that tradition on with Jordan, including annually attending Texas Rangers opening day and then other teams in more recent years. However, Jeff was most known for his insatiable appetite to create and build, spending hours every weekend on DIY home projects. When not working on a home project, he found opportunities to apply his creative and construction skills in other ways, including designing and building nine children’s playhouses, first with the AMX/Harman team and later, with Jordan, for Dallas CASA’s annual Parade of Playhouses. Jeff was a funny, kind, generous and selfless man. His outgoing and friendly nature endeared him even to strangers. He displayed an unwavering care for others, was driven by a desire to make people laugh, and was happiest when helping family, friends and colleagues in whatever ways he could. Above all his legacy will reside in his love for his family and will live on through his son. His father preceded Jeff in death. In addition to Lynn and Jordan, Jeff is survived by his mother, Judith Kindig of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister Susie Jacobi (Tom) of Fort Laramie, WY; brother Jim Kindig (Angie) of Cedar Rapids; sister Sarah Fischer (Chris) of Cedar Rapids; and nieces and nephews Robert Jacobi, Matthew Jacobi, Abby Jacobi, Allison Giannaros, Ellie Fischer and Nick Fischer; and great nephews Luke and Jacob Giannaros. A celebration of Jeff’s life will conducted at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church, Shipp Chapel, 9200 Inwood Road, Dallas, Texas 75220, on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the NSCA Education Foundation Jeff M. Kindig Future Leaders Scholarship Fund (Cedar Rapids, IA), Dallas CASA (Dallas, TX) or the charity of your choice are suggested.
