Reginald Lamar Causey
Reginald Lamar Causey “Reggie”, 68 years of age, passed on Wednesday, March 13, 2024 in Plano, Texas. Reggie was born on July 12, 1955 in Woodstock, Alabama at home. He was preceded in death by his mother Sylvia Sanderlin, father William Sanderlin, and biological father Lamar Monroe Causey. He is survived by his son Corey Causey of Port St. John, sister Deborah Wylie of Canaveral Groves, brother Jerry Sanderlin of Rockledge, sister Tammy Eastburn of Port St. John, brother Terry Sanderlin of Canaveral Groves, and sister Tracy Uhler of Port St. John and host of nieces, nephews and cousins. He grew up in Cocoa, Florida with his parents and 5 siblings. He graduated from Cocoa High School. He professed his life to Christ many years ago, he loved the gospel, praying with and for others. Growing up he loved the river and boats, especially airboats. He was one of the St. Johns River Rats back in the day. He was one of the original members of the St. John’s River Airboat Association. He worked on oil rigs in Louisiana. He did fiber glass work at Chief Canoes where he built airboat hulls and canoes. He built his own hulls and designed his own airboats, Wahoo Airboats, in Cocoa, FL. He worked for Rockwell & Lockheed at Kennedy Space Center in the hydrogen area fueling the shuttle at Pad B. Reggie was one of the original founders of Diamondback Airboats when it started in 1989. In 1993 he had a role in a commercial for Old Milwaukee Non-Alcoholic Beer as “Gill” giving swamp tour rides. He also traveled to Africa and built the world’s largest enclosed airboat, at the time. This was something that no other airboat company had successfully done. The accomplishment was featured in the Wall Street Journal. He was one of the owners of A Better Weld, Inc. in Sanford, FL. Reggie will be brought back home to Cocoa, Florida where he will be laid to rest. A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Cocoa, Florida
