Lina A. Olivas
Lina Olivas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to her final rest on August 18, 2023 after a long and full life during which she was known for her caring and giving spirit and an unlimited capacity to love and support her family. She was 87. Lina was the15th of 16 children. Her parents Concepción and Guadalupe Alvarado instilled in her a devotion to family. Lina married the love of her life, Ramon, and together grew their family of five children. Her home was always full. It was a place for laughter where no one ever lacked for food and where everyone could find comfort. The doors were always open to anyone who needed a place to stay. Lina will always be remembered for her sense of humor, her creativity and her devotion to her children and their children. She made everyone laugh during family gatherings with funny stories about the past and Spanish “dichos”, which were sometimes as silly as they were meaningful. She delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to spoil them. She has been reunited with her beloved husband, Ramon G. Olivas and her daughter, Martha B. Cortez. She is survived by her daughters, Sylvia Lewinski (Pete) and Barbara Montes (Eduardo) and her sons, David Olivas (Grace) and Ramon Olivas Jr. (Rhonda) and 12 grandchildren: Arturo Cortez, Kathy Lewis, Dave Olivas (Brittany), Adam Cortez, Jonathan Lewinski (Fatima), Allen Olivas (Larissa), Loretta Tays (Will), Peter Lewinski, Amanda Mossman (Dan), Andrew Olivas (Misty), Aron Olivas (Gabrielle), Matthew Montes (Allison) and 13 great-grandchildren. The Funeral Mass for Lina is on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 10 a.m at San Antonio Church, 503 Hunter Dr., El Paso, TX 79915. Internment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery following the Mass. Cremation arrangements by Lone Star Cremation.

  1. Our deepest condolences to our family The Olivia’s ! We have beautiful memories with my Tía Lina these past 10 yrs ! So blessed God allowed her to spend time with us as my family and I went thew loosing my brother Eddie! My God welcome her to his kingdom with open arms ! May she RIP
