There are special people in our lives that never leave us, even after they are gone. It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved father, David Boss, who passed away on June 8, 2023, at the age of 87. He was born in Preston, Oklahoma on December 4 to Clyde and Daisy Boss, and was the youngest of 5 children. David was raised in Preston, Oklahoma and had fond memories of growing up attending one schoolhouse with his brothers and sisters, and of his time spent on his grandparents’ farm. He was very partial to his grandparents and spent most of his summers at their farm when he was a young boy. David would tell stories of his grandpa and would have a sparkle in his eye every time he talked of those summers. The Boss family moved to Okmulgee, Oklahoma when David was around 13 years old. It was in high school when he learned of his gift of art. He had a natural talent for drawing and painting and spent countless hours working on projects for his Sunday school class or his church. His artwork was a true reflection of his creative spirit and will forever be treasured by those who were lucky enough to see it. David was a proud veteran who served in the United States Marines, where he developed his strong sense of duty and commitment to serving his country. He was a true American patriot who loved his country deeply and was honored to have been a part of its military history. He beamed knowing several of his grandchildren decided to take the same path and serve in the United States Navy and United States Air Force. David was a devoted father and a Christian. He attended church every Sunday and lived a life that was humble and faithful. He was also the youth counselor for many years and influenced many young men in women in a positive way. As a father, David was an excellent role model, always putting his family first and teaching them the importance of hard work, perseverance, and kindness. He was deeply devoted to his children and was a pillar of strength and support for them throughout their lives. In addition to his devotion to his family and service in the Marines, David had many passions and hobbies throughout his life. He loved playing baseball and was recruited to play double A ball as a teenager. David also enjoyed bowling with friends and family and would beat us every time we played. His last game in October 2022 he bowled a 226. David was also an excellent snow skier, he could conquer the most challenging slopes but usually chose to stay behind and ski with his family, or anyone that needed a little assistance or coaching. David was such an accomplished skier he even skied competitively in NASTAR. David was an excellent dancer, he was always ready to take the dance floor with his daughters. Later in life he took up ballroom dancing and in true David Boss fashion he won several awards for his performances. David started his working career in Okmulgee, Oklahoma as an assistant manager at the Beeline Bowl. When he moved his family to Fort Worth, Texas, he started working at the American Manufacturing Company in 1964 and then in 1969 he was hired by IBM and worked until his retirement. He then moved to Fulton Missouri and worked at William Woods University for a few years as a one-man IT Department and handled the IT needs of the school. Anyone who knew David spoke of his sweet spirit and kind soul. He made a lasting impression on all who were blessed to know him. David was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. David will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched throughout his life. We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved Parents, Grandparents and Brother and Sisters and is in the presence of Jesus. David is survived by his three daughters, Tamara Scott and husband Robert, Merry “Dede” Boss, and Melissa Dusak and her husband Mike, grandchildren, Jeremy Fox, Amber Fox, Meagan McDaniel, Jon Dusak, Tara Dusak, Missy Gray, and Jake Dusak and 6 great grandchildren. He lived a life full of passion and purpose. A Celebration of Life service will be held July 10th at 2 pm at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Haltom City. An Ice Cream Social will be held in his honor after the services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in his memory. Rest in peace, David. You will always be loved and never forgotten

What a beautiful tribute to your father Tamara . He sounds like a wonderful man , I wish I would have known him , but will look forward to meeting him in the next life . Perhaps he has or will soon meet my dad and my Joe .

You’ve written a beautiful and fitting obituary for an extraordinary man of integrity and character. I never saw Uncle David with anything less than a warm smile (and hug) and a kind word for everyone. He was generous of spirit, dependable, gentle yet strong, funny and playful, and always kind. He was truly the sort of person that one wishes everyone could be. His loss will leave a big hole in the world that only the wonderful, kind, sweet memories of him will fill. Uncle David was very loved.

The times we spent witbh David in the late 60s were such fun! Newly weds and new to the Fort Worth area, we met him at St. Luke’s Methodist. Several times we sat at your kitchen table, playing some kind of game, while you three beautiful girls bobbed in and out of the room. Such sweet memories!

What can I say about David Boss? Words can not express the compassion he had for others. He was always willing to go to great lengths to help. His talents were many and he always shared his wisdom and knowledge. He was a loving man and a wonderful Christian influence on everyone who knew him
