Phillip Gene Watkins
Phillip Gene Watkins courageous battle with Cancer ended at the age of 57. Phil is survived by his wife, Brenda Lou (Morey) Watkins of Joshua, Texas. Daughter, Patricia Jean (Watkins) Crawford, Son In Law Caleb Garrett Crawford of Bossier City, Louisiana. Daughter, Nikole Kathryn (Watkins) Ward, Son In Law Jason Kyle Ward of Sidney, Texas. Mother, Kathy (Gatzemeyer) Watkins, Sisters; Janice Newsom, Louise Keleher, and Laura Stegeman, residents of Iowa and a Brother Norman Watkins residence of South Dakota. He is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Watkins. Phil was born on July 31, 1957 in Pomona, CA to Lawrence and Kathy Watkins. He married his best friend and the love of his life Brenda Morey on December 17, 1983. After moving to Texas, Phil began working for Haltom City Public Works. Phil has 2 beautiful daughters, Patricia and Nikole. Phil served 3 years in the Army, as well as 3 years in the Air National Guard. Phil was a Street Maintenance Supervisor and loved his job at Haltom City Public Works where he worked for 27 years. Phil loved the people he worked with. Throughout his 5 year courageous battle with cancer he continued his employment with Haltom City. It is often one of the things his family says kept him going strong. Phil was a caring, hardworking, loving individual who would do anything for anyone. He loved to ride his Gold Wing. He loved golfing and bowling. He loved to fish, hunt, shoot guns, and sit outside with his friends and family. Phil was truly the #1 fan for the Dallas Cowboys, and the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was a wonderful Papa to his four grandkids Caidyn Brianne Crawford age 3, Paxton Edison Crawford age 2 weeks, Reese Kylee Ward age 10, and Wyatt Lawrence Ward age 2, and Papa Phil loved and adored them more than anything. Phil was an active member of the Pathway Church, in Burleson, Texas. A Memorial Service for Phil is scheduled for Wednesday July 8th, 2015 at 3:00pm at Pathway Church 325 NW Renfro St Burleson, Tx 76028 with a reception to follow. Judy Madden will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Phillip’s life and show support to his family.
