Glenn E. Thomas
Glenn E. Thomas passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015. Glenn was born in Haltom City on July 3, 1923. He lived in the house he was born in until July, 1941 when he joined the Navy and was serving at Pearl Harbor when WWII began. He was one of the few Pearl Harbor survivors left to tell the story first hand. He served his country proudly for twenty one years. After retiring from the Navy he went to work for GSA as an inspector, but the job he loved most was farming and he actively farmed until the age of eighty-nine. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Maxine Thomas, one daughter, Brenda Barnett, five grandchildren, Shelley Golden, Tommy Havens, Roy Barnett, Sylvia Fitzgerald, and Krist Barnett Foster as well as numerous great and great-great grandchildren. Three nephews, Jerry Beckham, Charles Haslett and Dan Thomas. Five nieces, Lanelle Jackson, Polly Hughes, Dola Russell, Carolyn Saichek, Judy Oldham and numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Wiley and Bird Thomas, sisters, Katherine Mullins, Edna Beckham, Mattie Thomas, Eunice Haslett, brother, Wily G. Thomas and one niece, Elizabeth Harris. Mr. Thomas’ memorial will be at 6:00 P.M. July 11,2015 at his farm.
