Alta Jean Dillon
Lake Whitney, TX – Alta Jean Dillon passed peacefully in the presence of family at the Park Plaza Nursing Home in Lake Whitney due to complications from diabetes on Thursday, August 27,, 2015. She was born at home on November 11, 1936 in Waxahachie, TX. Predeceased by her son, George Matthew in 1984, Jean is survived by her Husband, George, her daughters Sandra (Charles) Howland, Jennifer (Mauro) Bortolus, her foster son Mark (June) Shiraki, her grandchildren Heather, Adam, Rachel and Paul Howland, Travis, Sarah, and Dominic Bortolus, foster grandchildren, Scotty and Brittany Shiraki, great grandchildren McKenna, Chaeli, and Kaelyn White, Hannah Howland, Mathew and Addalynn Bortolus, Hunter Garcia, Abagail Howland, Grayson Dennis, and her pug dog Albert Cabone. She will be missed by many other relatives and friends Daughter and niece of long-time Whitney, TX residents Henry and Alta Baugus and Jack and Nell Poole, she married George in Durant, OK. She moved to Los Angeles, California several years later and began working as a bookkeeper and payroll clerk. She was active as a foster parent helping multiple kids experience a stable, caring family environment. She also became very involved riding horses and hosting horse shows. She retired in 1997 and subsequently moved back to the family home in Lake Whitney, TX. Her hobbies were quilting, crocheting, knitting, ceramics, and raising pug dogs. Her greatest pleasure was being a mom. Wishing to be cremated, a graveside inurnment service will held at the Fort Graham Cemetery on Thursday, 10 September 2015 at 11:00. A celebration of her life luncheon will be at the Texas Cafe, FM-933 and FM-22 in Whitney, TX at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
