Algene G. Fisk
Algene “Al” G. Fisk passed away on June 25, 2017 in Cleburne, TX at the age of 77. Mr. Fisk is survived by his son, John R. Fisk; his daughter-in-law, Wendy A. Fisk; his grandchildren Tana C. Fisk and Erik R. Fisk; and his former wife, Renee Fisk. Al is preceded in death by his parents. Algene was born on February 26, 1940 in Bellows Falls, VT to Algene M. Fisk and Priscilla R. Fisk (nee White). His parents and their family in New England always referred to him as “Sonny”. He spent the majority of his childhood in the former town of Smithfield, TX. He attended Birdville High School and earned an Associate’s Degree from Tarrant County Junior College. Algene enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1960 and served in the Vietnam campaign as a “Military Advisor” for armored warfare. He married Renee Milburn in 1971 after a four-year courtship. They raised a son, John, in the Mansfield/Burleson area in TX. Algene spent most of his life working in construction and eventually owned his own business. In about the last twenty years of his life, he worked in various national and state parks in Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, California, and Texas. Al Fisk was always quick to help someone in need. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. He was a faithful and lifelong “Leatherneck”. Algene loved the outdoors, traveling, and the natural beauty of the USA. We’ve seen him do everything from rebuilding an engine in his truck to constructing our garage in Burleson. He was a great role model as a father. Memorial services are pending as of now. We are planning a graveside service and internment at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Algene’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project at www.woundedwarriorproject.org. The family would like to thank Heritage Trails and Freedom Hospice Care for their efforts, dedication, and kindness.
